How to Use Blueprint Sections as Video Prompt Context

Most AI video tools put the entire burden of prompt writing on you. You stare at a blank text field and try to remember every detail that matters. This guide explains exactly how that system works, which sections to use for which outcomes, and how to get from blueprint to great video prompt in under two minutes.

Why Blueprint-Driven Prompts Work Better

When you write a video prompt from scratch, you're working from memory. You might describe your character's hair and forget their outfit. You might capture their personality but miss the scene context that makes the motion make sense. Details you wrote carefully in the Blueprint months ago don't make it into the prompt.

MegaNova's auto-prompt system fixes this by treating your Blueprint as a structured database, not a document you have to re-read before every generation. Select the sections you want, and the relevant fields are extracted, combined, and placed into the prompt field automatically — ready to use or refine.

The Five Available Sections

The Video tab exposes five blueprint sections as checkboxes. Each one pulls from specific fields in your Blueprint Editor:

Appearance

What it pulls:

  • Physical description (from the Appearance field in Identity)
  • Style choices — clothing, grooming, aesthetic preferences (from Style Choices in Identity)

What it contributes to a video prompt:
A precise description of what your character looks like. Hair color and length, facial features, build, the specific outfit they wear, the visual style they inhabit.

Example output in prompt:

"silver hair braided with gold thread, amber eyes, long midnight-blue coat with weathered brass buttons, scholar's ink-stained fingers"

When to use it:
Always enable this for Text-to-Video generations — the model is building the character from scratch and needs this visual specification. For Image-to-Video, Appearance is largely redundant because the reference image already conveys the visual identity. You can disable it for I2V and keep the prompt focused on action and context instead.


Current Scene

What it pulls:

  • Setting: where and when the scene takes place, the atmosphere (from First Message Context → Setting in the Dialogue section)
  • Character Action: what the character is doing in the moment (from First Message Context → Character Action)
  • Falls back to Current Situation (from Background section) if the Dialogue fields are empty

What it contributes to a video prompt:
The spatial and situational context that tells the model where your character is and what they're doing. This section has the most direct influence on the motion and composition the model generates.

Example output in prompt:

"standing at the edge of a rain-soaked rooftop overlooking the city at dusk. turning slowly to look toward the camera"

When to use it:
This is the most important section for both T2V and I2V. Motion models respond primarily to action and spatial cues, not to appearance descriptions. A prompt with strong Current Scene context will generate more purposeful, grounded motion than a prompt that's all appearance and personality. Enable this for nearly every generation.


Tagline

What it pulls:

  • The character's one-liner summary (from Tagline in Identity)

What it contributes to a video prompt:
A concentrated statement of the character's essence — who they are in one sentence. Short, distinctive, and often poetic. It acts as a stylistic anchor that colors how the model interprets everything else in the prompt.

Example output in prompt:

"the last arcanist in a world that burned its libraries"

When to use it:
Taglines work especially well as tonal anchors in T2V generations. When the model needs to make interpretive decisions about mood, atmosphere, and style, a strong tagline tips those decisions in the right direction. For I2V, the tagline contributes less — the image already establishes mood — but it can still refine the emotional register of the generated motion.

Keep in mind: if your tagline is generic ("a kind and mysterious person"), it adds noise rather than signal. A distinctive, specific tagline earns its place in the prompt; a vague one is better left unchecked.


Personality in Action

What it pulls:

  • Core traits: the 3–5 personality keywords that define the character (from Core Traits in Identity)
  • Quirks: unusual behaviors, mannerisms, habits (from Quirks in Identity)
  • Voice style: how they communicate — tempo, vocabulary, register (from Voice Style in Identity)

What it contributes to a video prompt:
The behavioral and energetic quality of the character — not what they look like or where they are, but how they carry themselves. Restless and electric, or deliberate and still. Formal and measured, or chaotic and expressive.

Example output in prompt:

"A precise, methodical character. habit of straightening small objects in the environment. Speaking style: deliberate pauses"

When to use it:
This section is most useful in I2V where the model is already constrained by the reference image and needs direction on quality of motion rather than visual appearance. A character described as deliberate and controlled will animate differently than one described as restless and electric — even from the same reference image. Enable Personality in Action when you want the motion itself to feel characterful.

For T2V, it's a useful complement to Appearance but less critical than Current Scene.


Origin Story

What it pulls:

  • World: the setting, society, or universe the character inhabits (from World in Background)
  • Origin: where the character comes from, their formative history (from Origin in Background)

What it contributes to a video prompt:
The macro context — the world-building that frames the character's existence. Cultural aesthetic, technological level, social context, the texture of the world they move through.

Example output in prompt:

"from the fallen empire of Vel-Soran, a civilization that collapsed under its own magical excess. now a wanderer through the ruins of what was"

When to use it:
Origin Story is most valuable for T2V world-building shots — when you want the generated environment to feel consistent with your character's narrative world rather than a generic backdrop. A character from a high-tech dystopia should move through a different-looking world than one from a collapsed fantasy empire. Origin Story provides that context.

For I2V with a close-up avatar shot, Origin Story usually doesn't contribute meaningfully — the model can't build a world it can't see. Reserve it for T2V or I2V shots with significant background environment.


How Auto-Generation Works

In the Video tab's left panel, each section appears as a checkbox with a preview snippet of its content. Sections with empty fields are greyed out automatically — if you haven't filled in Tagline in your Blueprint, the checkbox is disabled and gives you a clear signal that the field needs content.

Toggle the sections you want. The prompt field below updates in real time, combining the selected sections into:

[Character Name]: [section 1 content]. [section 2 content]. [section 3 content]...

The Refill button regenerates the prompt from current selections at any time — useful if you've edited the prompt manually and want to reset, or if you've changed which sections are checked and want a clean rebuild.

After auto-generation, the prompt field is fully editable. The auto-fill gives you a solid foundation; what you add, remove, or rewrite on top of it is what separates a functional prompt from a great one.


Which Sections to Use in Each Scenario

Rather than always enabling all five, treat section selection as a deliberate choice based on what you're generating:

Character animation for social media (I2V portrait):

  • Current Scene ✓ — directs the action
  • Personality in Action ✓ — sets the energy of movement
  • Appearance ✗ — reference image covers this
  • Tagline ✓ — anchors the mood if distinctive
  • Origin Story ✗ — irrelevant to a close-up shot

Cinematic T2V character reveal:

  • Appearance ✓ — model needs to know what the character looks like
  • Current Scene ✓ — establishes composition and action
  • Tagline ✓ — tonal anchor
  • Origin Story ✓ — informs the world the character inhabits
  • Personality in Action ✓ — all five for a reveal that captures the full character

Atmospheric establishing shot (T2V, no character):

  • Origin Story ✓ — the world context is the entire point
  • Current Scene ✓ — the specific setting
  • Appearance ✗ — no character in frame
  • Tagline ✓ — if evocative enough to set the mood
  • Personality in Action ✗ — irrelevant without a subject

Testing/iteration (any mode):

  • Current Scene ✓ — one section is enough to test
  • Everything else ✗ — keep the prompt minimal to isolate what's changing

Editing the Auto-Generated Prompt

The auto-generated text is a starting point, not a finished product. The sections tell the model what — appearance, scene, personality. What they don't provide is motion direction and camera language, which are the two things that most reliably improve video output quality.

After auto-filling, consider adding:

Motion direction — what is literally moving in the frame:

  • "turns slowly toward the camera"
  • "the wind moves through her hair as she holds still"
  • "raises one hand, the runic tattoos beginning to glow"

Camera language — how the shot is framed and moves:

  • "slow push-in, background softening to bokeh"
  • "static medium shot"
  • "low angle looking up, dramatic foreground blur"

Atmosphere modifiers — the sensory quality of the scene:

  • "golden hour light, long shadows"
  • "cold blue overcast, rain on the ground"
  • "warm candlelight, flickering shadows"

Style language — for T2V where the model chooses visual style:

  • "cinematic, film grain, anamorphic lens flare"
  • "anime-style, clean lines, expressive color"
  • "painterly, textured, impressionistic"

The auto-filled blueprint sections handle character identity. You handle motion and cinematography. That division of labor produces prompts that are both accurate and directed.


When the Auto-Prompt Isn't Enough: Blueprint Quality

The output quality of the auto-prompt is directly proportional to the quality of what's in the Blueprint. A one-word Core Traits list ("brave") produces a useless Personality in Action prompt. A detailed, specific Appearance section ("waist-length silver hair with three braids tied in brass rings, amber eyes with a slight reflective quality, weathered traveling coat in deep indigo") produces a genuinely useful one.

If you find the auto-generated prompts are thin or generic, the fix is in the Blueprint Editor, not the Video tab. Fill in the fields you're relying on with the specificity you'd want in a video prompt — because that's exactly where they end up.

The Blueprint isn't just character documentation. Every field you fill in is potential prompt material, for video generation and for everything else in the Studio.


The Full Workflow in Practice

  1. Open the Video tab inside your character's Studio
  2. Select your reference image if using I2V (avatar is pre-selected by default)
  3. Check the sections appropriate to your generation goal — Appearance is pre-selected by default; add Current Scene and Personality in Action for most use cases
  4. Review the auto-generated prompt — does it capture the right details?
  5. Add motion direction and camera language manually at the end of the prompt
  6. Select your model, set resolution and duration
  7. Generate — the prompt combines your blueprint specificity with your motion direction

The Refill button at any point regenerates from your current section selections, so you can experiment with different combinations without retyping.


Blueprint section auto-fill is available in the Character Studio Video tab for any character with filled Identity, Background, or Dialogue fields. Sections with empty content are automatically disabled.
